5 Reasons to Visit Bloomfield Public House Market

Bloomfield Public House Market is a restaurant and farmers market located in Bloomfield, Prince Edward County.

Bloomfield is a very popular place to visit any time of the year because of the unique small shops.

If you’re coming to Prince Edward County then here are 5 reasons to stop by the Bloomfield Public House Market.

Food is Locally Sourced

The market features a variety of locally sourced fresh produce, baked goods, prepared foods, and more. Many of these goods come directly from local farmers so you cannot beat that for fresh.

Because most of the food doesn’t have to travel far it tastes better.

As a consumer, you get to experience many different types of fresh produce from the surrounding area.

Of course, the oyster is brought in from the east coast but they are always fresh and kept on ice.

Many visitors make a point to stop here when in the county as it’s convenient and the snacks and ingredients are always fresh.

If you are renting take back local goods to cook up or check out the patio for a quick bite.

There are local beers, wine, and ciders you can try all in one place if you can’t visit the many places individually.

You can expect to find cheese, crackers, and meats to make charcuterie boards, and small meals quickly.

I’ve stopped here many of times just for the breakfast sandwiches on our way to the Sandbanks!

Also, check out the food event called Countylicious as these guys often participate

Bloomfield Public House Market Hours

Doors are open from 9 am to 5 pm Tuesday through to Sunday being closed on Mondays.

You can order take out or through the summer you can sit outside on the patio area facing Bloomfield main street or at the side of the building.

The patio at the side of the building is bigger.

Living here I can tell you that the best time to visit the Bloomfield Public House is early in the day or after 3 pm. The patio fills up quickly from around noon until around 3 pm.

I always recommend getting there early.

The Location is Convenient

Located at 257 Bloomfield Main St, Bloomfield, ON K0K 1G0 puts you between Picton and Wellington.

The popular Sandbanks is a 15min drive away. Picton is a 10 min drive away. Wellington is only 10 min away.

If you’re cycling or walking on the millennium trail make Bloomfield your stop.

Coming from Toronto you can turn off at Wooler road onto Highway 33 all the way to Bloomfield.

Coming from Montreal you can turn off at highway 49 into Picton at Marysville.

Many visitors stay in Bloomfield because it’s close to everything the county has to offer.

Live Music

You can catch live entertainment on certain days throughout the summer.

We have seen a few different local solo artists sitting on the patio.

We brought some friends from Toronto for a county tour twice to the Bloomfield Public House. Once for a late lunch on Canada Day and we watched Chris Bonham-Carter playing guitar on the patio.

Bloomfield Public House Menu

A great place to go for a meal, whether you’re looking for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Their food is reasonably priced, and their service is excellent.

You will need to order from the front counter and then pay. Then find a seat and they will bring your meal to you.

Breakfast

Breakfast sandwiches

Been here a few times just for breakfast or should I say late lunch.

The espresso coffee is great. There are different types of juices available.

The sandwiches are just amazing. Tons of snack options.

They have changed the menu a bit and have started offering a bit more breakfast options. The last time I was in I had the breaky Sammy with ham, egg, and aioli. Definitely worth checking out.

Also, try the Muffaleta sandwich on freshly baked focaccia if they still have it.

Lunch

It’s all about the sandwiches! They change them up but if they have it try the fried chicken sandwich. They have beef dips, chicken parmesan Sammy and many other types.

The sandwiches are some of the main reasons we keep going back for lunch.

There are also some really amazing homemade soups you can pair your sandwiches with. The butternut squash soup was the best I ever had. Many types of salad options.

Supper

If you’re looking for bigger supper options then they offer BBQ ribs, fried chicken, seared scallops, and different lamb choices with an eggplant.

Also tried the braised rabbit with gnocchi was really good on my first visit there.

The second time I had the rib eye and the scallops.

My favorite dish is fried chicken! Crispy thick batter and flavorful with lots on the plate with a choice of side! the coleslaw is great and the pickles are sweet and perfect.

If you’re looking for an in-house charcuterie they have a few selections. If you are drinking wine then ask for a pairing option.

Deserts

Fresh pastries like doughnuts and carrot cake.
