I LOVE cider…and Prince Edward County cider is some of the very best I’ve ever had.

The best cider in Prince Edward County is those made from local apples. The climate and soil are well-suited for apple trees.

County Cider Company, Cold Creek Cider, Loch Mór Cider, and Campbell Orchard grow their own apples in the county.

The many types of apples grown on the farms from the small family-run cideries here make a difference.

Depending on your taste buds of course as they will determine what you feel is a great cider obviously.

Cider is a type of alcohol made from fermented apples. It has a long history in Europe and was brought to North America by early settlers.

Cider production declined in the twentieth century but has experienced a resurgence in recent years.

Prince Edward County is one of the best places in Ontario for cider production.

If you’re planning to come to visit I can help give you an idea of what to expect.

Thanks to a renewed interest in all things local and craft, cider is making a comeback.

I’d recommend always doing a cider tasting to determine what you like and it can be fun.

The best cider in Prince Edward County

With each cider tasting, you can learn a bit about how each one is made. I really like pear cider…more so than apple cider. I realized this after my first tasting at the County cider Company a long time ago.

You will find that there are many different flavors of ciders to try.

Here are some of our favorite cider companies in Prince Edward County that we like to visit.

I can tell you that Crimson Cider Company is a really cool addition to the crafting of premium ciders in Prince Edward County.

This cidery is for everyday people like you and me.

They use real Ontario-grown apples to craft a beautiful, farm-to-table cider.

Katie and Craig are the owners and on our first visit, Katie walked us through the process of how they make the cider while doing a tasting in the tasting room.

The tastings are $2 each for a smaller 2oz pour. You can get a flight as we did for around $3 each for a bigger 5oz pour each glass.

One of the cool things here is that they offer cider slushies! These are one of the local favorites and they are growing in popularity for good reason.

There are a few different flavors of cider slushies to pick from on the menu.

They offer a Berry, Peach, and Grape slushies made from their own apple orchard.

Before coming to Crimson Cider I have never seen or tried a cider slushy before…they are great.

After trying all three, my favorite is the grape! If you try these and you should, let me know which one you like the best.

Prince Edward County Cider

The first cider company in Prince Edward County often called Waupoos cider.

The first cider brewery of authentic hard ciders made from their own apple orchard in the county they started back in 1995.

It seems to be a popular place for cider as it’s busy most of the time.

I’ve never seen so many varieties of cider before and I have tried every one the County Cider Company makes.

I enjoy each one of these County Cider Company ciders but all for very different reasons.

The Apple Falls Cider Company does things a bit differently and you can taste it.

Stock & Row Farm Cidery in Prince Edward County is a family-run business that produces a variety of high-quality ciders.

The cidery is located on a beautiful farm in Bloomfield, and the cider is made with apples grown right on the property.

Stock & Row Farm Cidery lets you sip on cider while walking through the apple orchard. 

In addition to traditional ciders, Stock & Row also makes unique infused ciders, including a Cold Tea cider, Slow and Low (Flagship cider), and a Lime Crush cider.

My favorite is the Slow and Low because it’s light, 5% ABV and easy to drink with a slight sweetness that is not overpowering.

The Lime Crush will remind you of a lime margarita and is amazing in crushed ice with a salted rim. You gotta try it!

The Loch Mór Cider Company in Prince Edward County has planted over 3300 apple trees and pressed the cider onsite.

You can enjoy a delicious, refreshing glass of cider paired with dark chocolate in the tasting room as we did.

There is a fee and we did book ahead online through the website.

These county ciders have won awards four consecutive years in a rowincluding their fortified cider, Pommeau, which has won twice.

The cidery is open year-round, so you can enjoy a refreshing drink no matter what the weather is like outside.

And if you’re to make your own cider they are very informative and can give great advice.
