We take our out-of-town visitors here because Exultet has an elegant expression of berry fruit that’s unique and the ruby red, hand-tended Pinot Noir is amazing.

What Makes Exultet Estates Special?

Exultet Estates grow and uses 100% of its own grapes and takes great pride in its ability to craft authentic wines that truly represent its particular vineyards.

I could tell by the conversation that the owner Lia Spinosa was passionate as she explained how much work goes into each bottle.

Most of the wine is expensive but she explained why. Her knowledge of wine-making was impressive and she explained everything in a very easy-to-understand way.

Each bottle is carefully crafted with time and patience to ensure that the full expression of their terroir is captured in every sip.

We’ve heard about how good the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay were so we wanted to try them for ourselves.

Our Tasting Suprised Me

Exultet Estates Tasting Bar

We tasted 4 wines for $15 and we did not book ahead but it does get busy through the summer so I’d suggest calling and making a tasting reservation ahead of time.

2020 Royal Road Recipe Pinot Noir– Nice light tannin structure, with nits of plums, red berry fruit, and roses. I took two bottles of this one home.

2015 Royal Road Fortified Apple Wine – What a treat! made with local PEC apples. Sweet with caramel notes. I took home one bottle of this one.

2020 Chardonnay “the Blessed” – scents of pears, peaches, apples, pineapple tree blossoms, and almonds.

2016 Royal Road Recipe Apple Wine – A dry white wine made from 100% local PEC apples that give it sweetness. We took 2 bottles of this one with us too.

Lastly, I wanted to mention they do have a 2018 Knucklehead Sparkling Apple Wine that we did not try but it’s on our list to try on our next visit.

Barrel Tastings & Tours

They do offer Private Barrel Tasting & Tours for $30 per person – including tastings of up to 4 current releases. I would definitely book in advance for this experience.

They have a big selection to choose your tasting from for such a small vineyard.

Royal Road Retreat Air BnB

Exultet Estates accommodations offer an ideal stay for groups of up to six individuals, with all the comforts of home.

The entire, three-bedroom home boasts five beds and one and a half baths, complete with all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay.

Other Wineries in The Area

The winery also puts a strong emphasis on sustainability, ensuring that all practices used in the production process are environmentally friendly and have minimal impact on the surrounding ecosystem.

Sustainability practices include using low-impact farming techniques such as cover cropping, minimal tillage, and integrated pest management (IPM).

Additionally, only natural yeasts are used during fermentation, which helps preserve the integrity of each wine’s flavor profile.
