Where is this unique high-quality winery located?
Located just fifteen minutes outside of Picton, the area of Milford Ontario is off the beaten path.
It’s a high-quality winery located at 308 Lighthall Rd, Milford in Prince Edward County.
The bonus here is that I live here in the county and every time I’ve been here it’s never been busy at all.

The Wines
Lighthall has been producing wines since 1998 and specializes in limited edition bottlings that provide a unique taste of Prince Edward County wines.
Wine types include County Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Gris, sparkling wines, and Icewine.
Although I did take home a bottle of the Pinot noir I ended up tasting all new wines.
The wine tasting we did includes the following and explain what you can expect.
1. Lighthall Chardonnay
Lighthall Vineyards produces a Chardonnay that is unoaked, meaning that it has not been aged in oak barrels.
This wine is light in its body with subtle notes of citrus and a hint of green apple.
2. Pinot Gris
Lighthall Vineyards’ Pinot Gris is a dry white wine that is medium-bodied with aromas of Asian pear and honey.
This wine has a crisp acidity and a long, lingering finish that paired well with the fetta and gouda cheeses.
3. Riesling
Lighthall Vineyards’ Riesling is a dry white wine with aromas of peach and apricot.
This wine is light-bodied and has a refreshing acidity long finish. Tasted great with the gouda cheese.
4. Sauvignon Blanc
Lighthall Vineyards’ Sauvignon Blanc is a dry white wine with the aromas of grapefruit and gooseberry. This wine is light-bodied and has a crisp acidity.
5. Gewurztraminer
Lighthall Vineyards’ Gewurztraminer is a dry white wine with aromas of lychee and spice. This wine is medium-bodied and has a rich, creamy texture.
6. Lighthall Culmination
Is a celebration of the vintage, with minimal intervention to bring out its natural qualities.
This bone-dry yet zesty wine boasts bright lemon pith and salted cashew notes after two years of aging on lees.
All are crafted from handpicked Chardonnay grapes grown in Prince Edward County. Enjoy this unique edition!
When we go home we tried our own cheese tasting with Fifth Town Artisan Cheeses.
Each vintage is carefully crafted in french oak barrels to ensure that it reflects the terroir of the region, which produces some truly remarkable wines.
All of their wines are made from estate-grown grapes for maximum quality control and each bottle showcases the varietal character that defines their vineyard’s unique terroir.
Created in a noninterventionist manner
Wine made in a non-interventionist manner is produced using processes that try to intervene as little as possible with the natural fermentation of grapes.
This approach involves not introducing additives such as concentrated grape must, enzymes or other substances that change the flavor and mouth feel of the wine.
